8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator
Estimate your salary after the 8th CPC and compare it with your current 7th CPC in-hand pay. Pick your pay level, city and fitment factor.
What is the 8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator?
The 8th Pay Commission salary calculator above estimates how your monthly pay may change when the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) is implemented. You choose your 7th CPC pay level and basic pay, your city class, your current DA and a fitment factor. The tool then shows your present in-hand pay next to your estimated salary after the 8th Pay Commission, with basic pay, DA, HRA, transport allowance, NPS and CGHS broken out line by line.
The final fitment factor and allowance rules have not been announced, so every 8th CPC figure on this page is a projection. The calculator is built for scenario planning: try 1.83, 1.92, 2.28 or any other value and see the range of outcomes.
Quick answer: New basic pay = current basic pay × fitment factor. At the commonly projected factor of 1.92, Level 1 entry pay of ₹18,000 becomes ₹34,560, and Level 6 entry pay of ₹35,400 becomes ₹67,968. DA is expected to restart from 0%, so take-home rises by much less than the basic pay does.
How to use the 8th Pay Commission salary calculator
- Pay level: select the level printed on your payslip, from Level 1 to Level 18 (including 13A).
- Current basic pay: pick your basic pay. The list shows the cells of the 7th CPC pay matrix for that level.
- City class: choose X, Y or Z for HRA. Pick the transport allowance option that matches your posting, or “None” if you use a government vehicle.
- Current DA: the default is 60%, the rate in force from January 2026. Change it only if you want to test another rate.
- Fitment factor: type a value between 1.00 and 4.00, or tap a preset (1.83, 1.92, 2.15, 2.28, 2.57, 2.86).
- Pension system: choose NPS/UPS if 10% of (basic + DA) is deducted from your pay, or OPS if nothing is deducted.
- Advanced assumptions (optional): change the DA at the start of the 8th CPC (default 0%), the HRA rate (default: automatic) and whether transport allowance stays the same or grows with the fitment factor.
- Press Calculate Salary. Use Reset to start again.
The result shows both salary structures side by side, plus the monthly and yearly change in net in-hand pay. This works as a simple salary calculator for the 8th Pay Commission: no sign-up, nothing is stored.
Formula: how salary after the 8th Pay Commission is calculated
The calculator follows the same steps a payslip does. Each component is worked out on the new basic pay.
New Basic Pay = Current Basic Pay x Fitment Factor
DA = New Basic Pay x DA % (0% at the start of 8th CPC, assumed)
HRA = New Basic Pay x HRA % (depends on city class)
DA on TA = Transport Allowance x DA %
Gross Salary = Basic + DA + HRA + Transport Allowance + DA on TA
NPS / UPS = 10% x (Basic + DA) (0 for OPS employees)
Net In-hand = Gross Salary - NPS/UPS - CGHS
Change % = (8th CPC Net - 7th CPC Net) / 7th CPC Net x 100
| Component | Calculated on | Rule used |
|---|---|---|
| Basic pay | Current basic | Multiplied by the fitment factor you choose |
| Dearness Allowance (DA) | Basic pay | 60% now; 0% at the start of the 8th CPC (editable) |
| House Rent Allowance (HRA) | Basic pay | X / Y / Z rates by DA slab (see the HRA table below) |
| Transport Allowance (TA) | Pay level and city | Fixed amount; same as now unless you scale it |
| DA on TA | Transport allowance | TA × DA % |
| NPS / UPS | Basic + DA | 10% employee contribution |
| CGHS | Pay level | ₹250 to ₹1,000 per month, held constant |
| Income tax (TDS) | Annual income | Not included, so results are before tax |
A note on rounding. When a new commission starts, pay is normally fixed on the new pay matrix, so your actual basic pay may land on the nearest matrix cell rather than the exact product of basic × factor. Expect small differences from the figures here.
7th CPC vs 8th CPC: what the calculator assumes
| Item | 7th CPC (now) | 8th CPC (calculator default) | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum basic pay | ₹18,000 (Level 1) | ₹34,560 at 1.92 | Projection |
| Fitment factor | 2.57 (applied in 2016) | 1.92; you can test 1.00 to 4.00 | Not announced |
| DA | 60% since January 2026 | Restarts at 0% | Expected, not confirmed |
| HRA (X / Y / Z) | 30% / 20% / 10% (DA at 50% or more) | 24% / 16% / 8% at the start, rising with DA | Assumption |
| Transport allowance | ₹900 to ₹7,200 by level and city | Same amount (optional scaling) | Assumption |
| NPS / UPS contribution | 10% of basic + DA | 10% of new basic + DA | Assumption |
| Effective date | 1 January 2016 | 1 January 2026 (retrospective) | Not confirmed |
DA resets because, in earlier commissions, the DA earned on the old pay was absorbed into the new basic through the fitment factor. That is why a 1.92 fitment factor does not mean a 92% rise in take-home pay.
Fitment factor scenarios: Level 6 example
The fitment factor is the biggest single driver of your 8th CPC salary. The table below uses Level 6 entry pay of ₹35,400 in a Y-class city, current DA of 60%, NPS deduction and the calculator defaults for everything else.
| Fitment factor | New basic pay | Gross salary | Net in-hand | Change in net pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Now (7th CPC) | ₹35,400 | ₹66,600 | ₹60,486 | - |
| 1.83 | ₹64,782 | ₹76,947 | ₹70,019 | +₹9,533 (+15.8%) |
| 1.92 | ₹67,968 | ₹80,643 | ₹73,396 | +₹12,910 (+21.3%) |
| 2.15 | ₹76,110 | ₹90,088 | ₹82,027 | +₹21,541 (+35.6%) |
| 2.28 | ₹80,712 | ₹95,426 | ₹86,905 | +₹26,419 (+43.7%) |
| 2.57 | ₹90,978 | ₹1,07,334 | ₹97,786 | +₹37,300 (+61.7%) |
| 2.86 | ₹1,01,244 | ₹1,19,243 | ₹1,08,669 | +₹48,183 (+79.7%) |
On this pay level, every 0.10 added to the factor raises net pay by about ₹3,750 a month. Use the preset buttons in the calculator to run the same comparison for your own basic pay.
New basic pay for every pay level at 1.92
This table applies the projected factor of 1.92 to the entry and maximum pay of each 7th CPC level. It shows the basic pay only, before DA, HRA and other allowances.

| Level 17 | ₹2,25,000 | ₹2,25,000 | ₹4,32,000 | ₹4,32,000 |
| Level 18 | ₹2,50,000 | ₹2,50,000 | ₹4,80,000 | ₹4,80,000 |
These are straight multiplications for orientation. The real 8th CPC pay matrix will have its own cells and may not follow a single factor for all levels.
8th Pay Commission salary for Level 6: worked example
Level 6 starts at ₹35,400 in the 7th CPC pay matrix and covers posts such as Junior Engineer and Sub-Inspector in many departments. Check your appointment letter or payslip for the level of your post. The example below uses entry pay, a fitment factor of 1.92, DA of 60% now and 0% after the 8th CPC, and NPS.
Level 6 salary by city class
| City class | Net now (7th CPC) | New basic pay | Gross (8th CPC) | Net (8th CPC) | Change in net pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| X class (HRA 30% now, 24% after) | ₹66,906 | ₹67,968 | ₹87,880 | ₹80,633 | +₹13,727 (+20.5%) |
| Y class (HRA 20% now, 16% after) | ₹60,486 | ₹67,968 | ₹80,643 | ₹73,396 | +₹12,910 (+21.3%) |
| Z class (HRA 10% now, 8% after) | ₹56,946 | ₹67,968 | ₹75,205 | ₹67,958 | +₹11,012 (+19.3%) |
The X-class row uses the higher transport allowance of ₹3,600 (and ₹2,160 DA on TA today). Y and Z rows use ₹1,800. Net pay is before income tax.
Step-by-step calculation (Level 6, Y-class city)
New basic pay = 35,400 x 1.92 = ₹67,968
DA = 67,968 x 0% = ₹0
HRA (16%) = 67,968 x 16% = ₹10,875
Transport = ₹1,800
Gross salary = 67,968 + 0 + 10,875 + 1,800 = ₹80,643
NPS (10%) = 10% x (67,968 + 0) = ₹6,797
CGHS = ₹450
Net in-hand = 80,643 - 6,797 - 450 = ₹73,396
Today (7th CPC): 35,400 + 21,240 (DA) + 7,080 (HRA) + 1,800 (TA) + 1,080 (DA on TA)
= ₹66,600 gross, ₹60,486 net
Change = 73,396 - 60,486 = ₹12,910 a month (about 21.3%)
Level 6 pay matrix cells multiplied by 1.92
| Matrix cell | 7th CPC basic pay | Basic pay at 1.92 |
|---|---|---|
| Cell 1 | ₹35,400 | ₹67,968 |
| Cell 2 | ₹36,500 | ₹70,080 |
| Cell 3 | ₹37,600 | ₹72,192 |
| Cell 4 | ₹38,700 | ₹74,304 |
| Cell 5 | ₹39,900 | ₹76,608 |
| Cell 6 | ₹41,100 | ₹78,912 |
| Cell 7 | ₹42,300 | ₹81,216 |
| Cell 8 | ₹43,600 | ₹83,712 |
| Cell 9 | ₹44,900 | ₹86,208 |
| Cell 10 | ₹46,200 | ₹88,704 |
DA, HRA, TA and CGHS rates used
HRA rates by DA slab
HRA under the 7th CPC steps up as DA crosses 25% and 50%. The calculator’s automatic HRA option applies the same slab logic to the DA you enter for the 8th CPC. With DA at 0%, that gives the lowest slab.
| City class | DA below 25% | DA 25% or more | DA 50% or more |
|---|---|---|---|
| X (largest cities) | 24% | 27% | 30% |
| Y | 16% | 18% | 20% |
| Z (all other places) | 8% | 9% | 10% |
Whether the 8th CPC keeps this structure is not decided. Use the HRA drop-down under Advanced assumptions to test other rates. Select 0% if you live in government accommodation.
Transport allowance (7th CPC amounts)
| Pay level | Higher-TA cities | Other cities |
|---|---|---|
| Levels 1 and 2 | ₹1,350 | ₹900 |
| Levels 3 to 8 | ₹3,600 | ₹1,800 |
| Level 9 and above | ₹7,200 | ₹3,600 |
Employees with certain disabilities receive double these amounts, which is why the calculator has a PwD option. DA is paid on transport allowance too, shown as “DA on TA”. The list of cities that get the higher TA is separate from the X/Y/Z HRA classification, so check it for your posting.
CGHS monthly contribution
| Pay level | Monthly CGHS |
|---|---|
| Levels 1 to 5 | ₹250 |
| Level 6 | ₹450 |
| Levels 7 to 11 | ₹650 |
| Level 12 and above | ₹1,000 |
The calculator keeps CGHS at today’s amount for the 8th CPC estimate. Any revision will depend on the commission’s recommendations.
8th Pay Commission and pension: what changes
Pension matters in two ways: the monthly deduction from a serving employee’s pay, and the revision of pension for those who have retired. The salary calculator covers the first. The second follows the same fitment idea, but the revision method for existing pensioners has not been announced.
Pension deduction while in service
| Scheme | Who is covered | Monthly deduction | How pension is decided |
|---|---|---|---|
| OPS | Most employees who joined before 1 January 2004 | None | 50% of average emoluments of the last 10 months, for 33 years of qualifying service; pro-rata for shorter service |
| NPS | Employees who joined on or after 1 January 2004 | 10% of basic + DA | Depends on the corpus built up and the annuity bought at retirement |
| UPS | NPS employees who opt for it (available from April 2025) | 10% of basic + DA | 50% of average basic pay of the last 12 months after 25 years of service; proportionate for 10 to 25 years; assured minimum ₹10,000 a month after 10 years |
Because the NPS/UPS deduction is 10% of basic + DA, a higher fitment factor raises it too. In the Level 6 example above it goes from ₹5,664 to ₹6,797 a month. Choose the OPS option in the calculator to see the result with no deduction.
Estimating a revised pension
Projected Basic Pension (8th CPC) = Current Basic Pension x Fitment Factor
Example: 30,000 x 1.92 = ₹57,600 a month
This is the usual planning estimate. Dearness Relief (DR), the pensioner’s counterpart of DA, is expected to start afresh on the revised pension, so the amount you actually receive will rise by less than the basic pension does. Pensioners and family pensioners are within the commission’s scope.
Pension formulas at retirement
OPS pension = 50% x average emoluments (last 10 months) [33 years of service]
Example: 50% x 1,00,000 = ₹50,000
UPS pension = 50% x average basic pay (last 12 months) [25 years of service]
Example: 50% x 1,00,000 = ₹50,000
For 20 years: 50,000 x 20 / 25 = ₹40,000
These are illustrations with round numbers. Your pension is fixed by your department under the rules in force at retirement.
8th Pay Commission: current status and timeline
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 16 January 2025 | Government announced the 8th Central Pay Commission |
| October 2025 | Union Cabinet approved the Terms of Reference |
| 3 November 2025 | Commission formally constituted; Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai appointed Chairperson |
| Around mid-2027 | Report expected, as the commission has an 18-month mandate |
| 1 January 2026 | Anticipated effective date; confirmed only when the Cabinet accepts the report |
| 2027 to 2028 | Likely implementation, with arrears expected from the effective date |
The commission is expected to cover about 50 lakh serving central government employees and about 69 lakh pensioners. The fitment factor has not been announced. The 1.92 figure is a widely quoted projection, not a decision.
DA position as of 10 October 2026: DA is 60%. The July 2026 revision had not been announced at the time of writing; a formula-based estimate based on the AICPI-IW index points to about 63%. If you want to see the effect, enter 63 in the current DA field.
Disclaimer: This calculator gives indicative estimates for planning. It uses the 7th CPC pay matrix and the assumptions listed above. Actual salary, pension and arrears depend on the government’s final orders, the new pay matrix, DA rates and tax. Income tax is not deducted in these figures. For loans or official records, use your actual payslips and check with your office’s pay section.
8th Pay Commission Salary Calculator in Hindi: 8
DA = नया बेसिक पे x DA % (शुरुआत में 0% माना गया है)
HRA = नया बेसिक पे x HRA %
कुल सैलरी = बेसिक + DA + HRA + ट्रांसपोर्ट भत्ता + TA पर DA
नेट सैलरी = कुल सैलरी - NPS/UPS (10%) - CGHS
Frequently asked questions about the 8th Pay Commission salary calculator
How does the 8th Pay Commission salary calculator work?
It multiplies your current 7th CPC basic pay by the fitment factor you choose to get the new basic pay. It then works out HRA and transport allowance on that new basic, sets DA to 0% (editable), and subtracts NPS/UPS and CGHS. You see your present pay and the estimated 8th CPC pay side by side.
How do I calculate my salary after the 8th Pay Commission?
Use this sequence: new basic = current basic × fitment factor; add HRA (a percentage of the new basic by city class), transport allowance and DA if any; then subtract NPS/UPS (10% of basic + DA) and CGHS. For example, a Level 6 employee in a Y-class city with a basic pay of ₹35,400 gets a new basic of ₹67,968 at a factor of 1.92 and an estimated net of about ₹73,396 a month, before tax.
What is the expected fitment factor for the 8th Pay Commission?
It has not been announced. Many estimates use 1.92, and discussions usually range from about 1.83 to 2.86 (the 7th CPC used 2.57). Treat any single number as an assumption and compare several scenarios in the calculator.
How much will my salary increase after the 8th Pay Commission?
There is no official figure yet. At a factor of 1.92, basic pay rises by 92%, but DA is expected to restart at 0%, so net pay rises by much less. For Level 6 entry pay the calculator shows an increase of roughly 19% to 21% in net monthly pay across X, Y and Z cities, before tax. Higher factors give larger increases.
Will DA be reset to zero after the 8th Pay Commission?
That is the expected treatment, because earlier commissions merged accumulated DA into the new basic pay through the fitment factor and started DA again from a low base. It is not confirmed for the 8th CPC. You can change the starting DA under Advanced assumptions.
What will be the minimum salary after the 8th Pay Commission?
The present minimum basic pay is ₹18,000. At a factor of 1.92 it would be ₹34,560. At 1.83 it would be ₹32,940, at 2.28 it would be ₹41,040 and at 2.57 it would be ₹46,260. These are projections, not announced figures.
What will be the Level 6 salary after the 8th Pay Commission?
Level 6 entry pay of ₹35,400 becomes ₹67,968 at a factor of 1.92. With HRA at the assumed starting rate, transport allowance, and NPS and CGHS deducted, estimated net pay is about ₹67,958 in a Z-class city, ₹73,396 in a Y-class city and ₹80,633 in an X-class city. Choose your own basic pay in the calculator for an exact comparison.
How will the 8th Pay Commission affect pension?
Pensioners and family pensioners are within the commission’s scope, but the revision method has not been announced. A common planning estimate multiplies the current basic pension by the fitment factor, so a pension of ₹30,000 would become ₹57,600 at 1.92. For serving employees, the NPS/UPS deduction of 10% of basic + DA also rises with the new basic pay.
Is income tax included in the 8th CPC salary calculation?
No. The calculator shows net pay before income tax (TDS) because tax depends on your total income, regime and investments. Your actual in-hand pay will be lower by the tax deducted.
What will HRA be after the 8th Pay Commission?
The new HRA rates are not announced. The calculator assumes 24%, 16% and 8% for X, Y and Z cities at the start, stepping up to 27/18/9 when DA reaches 25% and 30/20/10 at 50%, as under the 7th CPC. You can pick another rate under Advanced assumptions.
When will the 8th Pay Commission be implemented and will arrears be paid?
The commission was constituted on 3 November 2025 with an 18-month mandate, so its report is expected around mid-2027, and implementation is likely in 2027 to 2028. The effective date is widely expected to be 1 January 2026, with arrears from that date, but this will be known only after the government accepts the report.
Is the 8th CPC calculator result official, and can I use it for a loan?
No. The result is an estimate based on stated assumptions, not a government figure. Banks ask for recent salary slips, so use this tool only to understand and compare scenarios.
Can state government employees use this calculator?
They can use it for a rough comparison if their state follows central pay commission patterns. States have their own pay matrices, implementation dates and allowance rules, so the figures may differ from your state’s pay revision.
